Hoops lift Griffiths

BRENDAN RODGERS insists Celtic will back Leigh Griffiths after the troubled striker was given an extended break from football to sort out ongoing personal issues.
The Hoops boss admitted the frontman was being sent for professional help.
Celtic face a crunch Europa League showdown with Red Bull Salzburg tonight but Rodgers revealed the 28-year-old has been battling problems – which we understand include issues with gambling and mental health – for some time.
They came to a head this week and forced the club and player into action.
Rodgers said: “He is struggling and the best thing we feel is for him to be out of the football environment. The club will look to do everything we can to help him.”
