‘Wages down £12k in 10 yrs’

-

WORKERS are nearly £12,000 worse off in real terms than a decade ago, TUC research claims.

The study found wages are down a third compared with 2008 – after being adjusted for inflation.

TUC leader Frances O’Grady said: “While pay packets have recovered in most leading economies, wage growth in the UK is stuck in the slow lane.”

But a Government spokesman insisted: “Wages are now rising at their fastest in a decade.”
