Reindeer are endangered
CLIMATE-HIT Reindeer REINDEER numbers have fallen so drastically in the past 20 years that herds in Canada and Alaska are classed as endangered.
Scientists claim that the impact of climate change in the Arctic was a driver of the drop from almost five million animals to 2.1 million.
The Arctic Report Card warned they are “such drastic declines that recovery isn’t in sight”.
And in Russia, of 19 herds studied 18 were rare, decreasing or “threatened”.
