■ I must praise Jodie Whittaker for her outstanding performance as the firstever female Doctor Who. She has been just what the BBC show needed and I love the quirkiness and energy she has brought to the role. Her three companions have been superb too, with Bradley Walsh proving just what a fine actor he is. It’s been a hugely enjoyable series and I can’t wait to see the New Year special.

■ What an interesting series Channel 4’s Secret Life of the Zoo is. We get to meet the dedicated staff at Chester Zoo and, of course, some of the weird and wonderful creatures they so carefully tend to in sickness and health. It’s eye-opening to see what goes on at the zoo when all the visitors have gone home.
