Ex-BHS boss Chappell fined £123k over pensions breach

- BY TOM PILGRIM

EX-BHS owner Dominic Chappell has been told to pay £123,900 for breaching pension law when the firm collapsed.

Chappell, 52, bought the chain for £1 from Sir Philip Green in 2015.

It went into administration just 13 months later, leaving a £571million pension deficit.

Chappell was found guilty in January of not giving The Pensions Regulator vital FAILURES Dominic Chappell documents about the BHS pension scheme after the company failed and was re-sentenced yesterday at Hove crown court after losing an appeal. But Chappell, of Blandford Forum, Dorset, said he did not have “cash available” to pay the £50,000 fine and £73,900 in court costs.

He said: “I’m not a Philip Green sitting on a £100million yacht… I’m a victim of the circumstances that came out of British Home Stores. I wish to God we never got involved.”
