Sir Paul shrugs off burglary by joining stars at Mick Jagger’s Christmas party
PAUL McCartney got over a break-in at his home by joining music’s biggest names at Mick Jagger’s Christmas party.
The ex-Beatle, accompanied by wife Nancy Shevell, arrived in a large coat designed by his daughter Stella’s fashion label.
Police confirmed they are investigating a burglary at Sir Paul’s London home last Friday.
Meanwhile, Sir Mick’s bandmate Ronnie Wood arrived in a black and yellow zip-up cardigan alongside wife Sally.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also dressed-down in a black beanie and grey jumper and scarf.
Model and actress Lily Cole was almost unrecognisable as she traded her famous long red hair for a shorter grey cut under a white hat. Fellow model Lady Mary Charteris showed off her long pink hair topped with a black hat and teamed with a black fur coat and purple trousers.
Other celebs at the London party included Noel Gallagher, Daphne Guin- ness, Mariella Frostrup and Jemima Khan. But Jagger’s bandmate Keith Richards – who revealed yesterday he has cut back his drinking – appeared to be absent.
The 74-year-old, notorious for his hedonistic lifestyle, told Rolling Stone magazine: “I pulled the plug on it. I got fed up with it.” But he admitted he still indulges in “a glass of wine occasionally and a beer”.
He added: “It was time to quit. Just like all the other stuff.”
Asked if it could be called “an adjustment”, he said: “You can call it that, yeah. But I don’t notice any difference really.”
Ronnie Wood, 71, who got sober in 2010 after decades of battling substance abuse, welcomed his friend’s decision.
In the same interview, he said: “He’s a pleasure to work with. Much more mellow. He’s open to more ideas.
“Before I’d kind of grit my teeth and go, ‘He’s gonna give me some sh** for saying this’.
“Now, he’ll say, ‘That’s cool, man’.”
