- BY DANYA BAZARAA

THOUSANDS of women with ovarian cancer are claiming Johnson & Johnson baby talcum powder has given them the disease, it was claimed yesterday.

According to Reuters news agency, the firm knew for decades it contained asbestos.

Its report said J&J have now been compelled to hand over thousands of internal documents. These are being shared BLAMED Baby talcum powder with lawyers for some of the 11,700 plaintiffs now claiming the talc caused their cancers.

The agency said the papers show that from the 70s to the early 2000s, its raw talc and finished powders sometimes tested positive for small amounts of asbestos. But J&J said: “Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder is safe and asbestos free. Studies show the talc does not cause cancer or asbestos-related disease.”
