Laura still a golden girl
LAURA KENNY led Britain to World Cup gold at a canter on her London 2012 Olympic Velodrome return.
With qualifying points at stake for the Tokyo 2020 Games, Kenny, Katie Archibald, Neah Evans and Ellie Dickinson outgunned the US in the women’s team pursuit. Kenny (left), a four-time Olympic gold medallist, was in dominant form as the Brits caught the US inside 2,750m.
But the fourth instalment of UCI’s six-stage series at the Lee Valley Velopark was overshadowed by events in Manchester where axed sprinter Jess Varnish was made to wait for the verdict in her employment tribunal against British Cycling and UK Sport. It will now be delivered in the new year.
