Romain gets the Cup vote

-

TODAY’S Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham is the sister race to last month’s BetVictor.

That contest turned into a demolition derby with only six of the 18 runners completing.

Two of the first three home are eliminated by the trends — which are:

■ Aged eight or younger.

■ Run in past five weeks.

■ 2-4 wins over fences.

■ Rated lower than 150.

■ Course form.

We are down to a shortlist of Rather Be, Casse Tete, Romain De Senam and Guitar Pete.

Guitar Pete never looked like winning the BetVictor but the bookies are taking no chances.

Rather Be was brought down in the race but is far too short at 3-1.

Casse Tete will struggle on various form lines, so we’ll give ROMAIN DE SENAM another chance with the talented Sean Bowen (above) in the saddle.

Paul Nicholls’ six-year-old carries a low weight compared to 12 months ago and is worth 2pts each-way at 16-1 with Betfair to make up for his early BetVictor fall.
