JUST 40 people passed through the country’s least used railway station, Redcar British Steel in North Yorks, in 2017-18. Samantha Ford with her twins Ford on Santa visit with twins and husband Steven A FAMILY photo shows smiling mum Samantha Ford holding her twins who she has now been charged with murdering.

Police found the children, identified as 23-month-olds Jake and Chloe, dying at their home in the early hours of Thursday.

Their mum, 37, charged last night.

Her gran Pamela Emptage said: “I’m their great-grandmother... they were lovely. It’s absolutely tragic.”

Ford’s brother James Emptage said: “It’s a terrible tragedy. I will pay tribute but not right now.”

Ford was driving alone was when her car crashed into a lorry 15 miles from home, and police at the scene became concerned about the welfare of the children.

Officers are thought to have broken down the door at the rented property in Margate, Kent, shortly after the smash on the A229 near Whitstable and found the twins who medics battled in vain to save.

Ford, who was treated for minor injuries, has been remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury magistrates court today.

Neighbours say the mum and the toddlers moved into the home a few weeks ago.

Among the tributes outside the property include messages referring to the twins as “two little angels”.

Officers have been seen carrying two children’s mattresses from the home in sealed bags.

It is not known if the mum had split from husband Steven Ford.

They bought a house together in Ashford, Kent, a year ago, according to Land Registry documents.
