- BY ALEX CROOK

EDDIE HOWE aims to celebrate his 10 years as Bournemouth boss by ending Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United honeymoon.

Howe was first named Cherries boss on New Year’s Day 2009 and admits he would have thought crazy anyone predicting their incredible rise to the Premier League.

When he took charge Bournemouth were bottom of League Two and facing the threat of bankruptcy.

Howe (above) said: “I’d have carted them off somewhere if someone had told me then what would happen. There was no way that was going to happen. I would have felt it was impossible.

“It has happened and that has been a very valuable lesson to me; that you can never say never, never say you can’t achieve something – because it can be done. “Obviously you need to put in a lot of hard work and have some luck in there as well, but we are still here. Coming from where we were to where we are now is incredible. I would not have changed anything about the story.

“We could never foresee what would happen. The only thing we have ever done is go from game-to-game, week-toweek.

“When you look back over 10 years it seems crazy what has happened.”

Howe was seeing in the New Year with his former Cherries team-mates when he was offered the job following the sacking of former Northern Ireland striker Jimmy Quinn.

He said: “From enjoying the party I quickly had to change my mind-set and think of all the things you have to do as a manager.

“In my head I had already accepted the role and was racking my brains thinking what I was going to do to take the club forward.

“The club were in a precarious financial situation so there was a lot to quickly understand and my New Year’s Eve celebrations were cut short.”
