A HEAVEN SENT WAY TO MARC MY GOALS

MARC ALBRIGHTON cannot see a time when he will stop pointing to the skies to celebrate his goals.

The winger has enjoyed incredible highs and griefstricken lows during his career at Leicester.

Albrighton (above) celebrated his goal in the shock 2-1 Boxing Day win over Manchester City with his usual look to the heavens.

The 29-year-old revealed that on the morning of the match his family was rocked by the death of another close friend.

Albrighton has endured more tragedy than most in recent years.

Three years ago his partner Chloe’s mother was killed in the terrorist beach massacre in Tunisia.

Two months ago there was more agony when Leicester’s billionaire owner and chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four others lost their lives in the helicopter tragedy at the King Power stadium.

Albrighton says letting loved ones know he is thinking of them is one of the few ways he can pay tribute for what they have done for him.

As he prepared to face Cardiff, Albrighton said: “It’s a bit of everything. I’ve been affected by some tragedies in the past few years.

“All my goals now are dedicated to people that have influenced me in my life and my career. If that’s a way I can thank them then so be it.

“It will continue, if I remember. Sometimes you get carried away during a goal, especially when you don’t score many like me.

“I enjoy scoring, but if there’s one way to thank people that have helped me along the way I’ll do that.”

Albrighton’s equaliser against City was something of a collector’s item because he scored it with his head.

He added: “It helped that there was pace on the ball so all you’ve got to do is guide it back to where it came from.

“I’ve missed a few of them in my time, both in training and games, so it was nice to see it drop in the bottom corner.

“A few people are asking me, ‘How many headers have you scored?’ That’s two for the season, so I’m quite pleased with that!”
