IAN HYLAND on catch-up telly
After last night’s celebrations you’ll probably be looking for some catch-up TV options to help you through your recovery. Here you go. Happy New Year!
BROS: After The Screaming Stops (BBC iPlayer)
Even non-fans will enjoy this genuinely jaw-dropping documentary which looks at the reunion tour Matt and Luke Goss undertook last year – 28 years after the band split. It’s been compared to David Brent and Spinal Tap and you’ll probably spend most of it wondering whether it’s a spoof. Bandersnatch (Netflix)
This special interactive episode of Black Mirror made me think of the video game Tom Hanks’ character plays in 80s movie Big. The interactive element gives the story
so many possible diversions and endings some tech geeks have already created online flow charts to explain them all.
Torvill & Dean (ITVPlayer)
This one-off drama about the ice-dancing duo got a little lost in the Christmas Day rush. It’s a feelgood TV movie that will have you blubbing by the end – and looking forward to the return of Dancing On Ice at the weekend.
Ken Dodd: How Tickled We Were/Bob Monkhouse: The Last
Stand (BBC iPlayer)
The Doddy documentary is a wonderful tribute to the star who died last year. Then watch a 2003 Monkhouse masterclass that had his peers howling in appreciation.
Escape At Dannemora (Sky Atlantic/Now TV)
If you’re still going by 9pm you can start bingeing on this eight-part true story starring Patricia Arquette, Paul Dano and Benicio Del Toro. Two killers escape from jail aided by the female prison officer who’s been having an affair with them both!
