The world’s longest surviving kidney transplant patient has been honoured by the NHS.

Harry Turner, 70, was given the organ, donated by his brother, in 1969.

Harry, of Millom, Cumbria, was given a plaque in a ceremony at the Royal Preston Hospital.

The retired builder said: “The transplant enabled me to live a full life.”

Harry said of his brother Victor who died at 39: “I am so grateful for what he did for me.”
