“It is was a bit easier because we played, for example, Bayern pretty late in the season,” said the German.

“We were six or three points up and everyone was asking whether it was the decisive game. We won it 1-0 and they missed a penalty.

“It can’t be more spectacula­r a game like that and a week later we played Schalke, another big game, and people always want to know, ‘What now, if you win?’

“We have to play football, we can’t change anything. As long as you can be focused on yourself everything’s fine. You’ve no influence over what other teams are doing. If you play them, prepare for them. If you don’t, ignore them.”
