ABOUT 36% of drivers have not read the Highway Code since passing their test, a study found.

One in five admitted it was over a decade since they checked it, according to Halfords Autocentres.

The firm’s Roadworthiness Quiz lets drivers test their knowledge and covers key motoring laws.

Managing director Andy Randall said: “We’re passionate about safety.

“Some drivers could benefit from refreshing their knowledge.”

Matias died at peer’s exotic villa POLICE shot dead a guest during a rowdy wedding party at a mansion owned by a Lib-Dem peer.

Pizza tycoon Lord Rumi Verjee’s villa in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, became a crime scene after undercover officers felled on-the-run Michel Matias, 37, with four shots. Lord Verjee – who brought Domino’s Pizza to the UK in the 1980s and who owns Thomas Goode which supplies glass and china to the Royals – was not believed to be in Rio at the time.

He had sub-let the mansion to a Frenchman and neighbours insisted he had no idea it had been used for a noisy 1,000-strong samba bash on Sunday.

A spokesman said Uganda-born Lord Verjee, 61, had been “unaware of the issues” and had ended the tenancy. The Peer with Richard Branson’s daughter peer, who owned Watford FC alongside Elton John in the 1990s, is believed to be worth £160million. In 2014 the Lib-Dem donor was in a £1.1million cash-forhonours row after being made a Lord.

As well as bringing Domino’s to the UK in 1985 before selling his stake in 1989, he has a property empire in Brazil.
