CLIMATE-change campaigners said plans to ban gas central heating in new homes were a “no-brainer”.
The policy will mean an end to fossil fuel heating systems in homes built from 2025 onwards.
Greenpeace senior campaigner Mel Evans described the move as “vital”.
Max Wakefield, of campaign group 10:10 Climate Action, said: “All our homes and buildings must be made efficient, affordable and zero-carbon within the next two decades to address the climate crisis. Ending the scandal of poor-quality new homes is a no-brainer that’s good for everyone.”
But Dave
Timms, of Friends of the Earth, warned that the Chancellor’s announcement did not go far enough .
Mr Timms said: “The nation’s children are calling out for tough action to cut emissions.
“Mr Hammond must listen harder to the lesson they’re teaching him.”
