DJ Greg James airs his anxiety live on Radio 1
It takes a lot of courage to open up about mental health – considerably more when speaking to five million people.
Radio 1’s Breakfast Show host Greg James, inset, spoke candidly about his experiences with anxiety during the station’s Comic Relief fundraiser – admitting he had been “struggling” and taking time to visit a therapist.
Admitting it felt “weird” to have the conversation on air, Greg insists it wasn’t difficult to open up.
“I feel very comfortable on Radio 1 saying those sorts of things,” he says. “And I know it helps people who listen, and even people in the building who have similar problems with their own mental health.” Speaking about having anxiety attacks, Greg told listeners: “I do actually go and see a therapist. I’m lucky enough to be able to afford that. There’s a lot of people that can’t.”
