FESTIVAL BEATS THE WIND
THE second day of the Cheltenham Festival took place as planned after the gale-force winds that threatened the card failed to materialise.
With Storm Gareth due to deliver gusts of up to 50mph, a precautionary inspection was scheduled for 8am yesterday.
But Cheltenham clerk of the course Simon Claisse (left) said: “We’re delighted conditions have changed from the forecasts and the prospect of higher wind speeds has receded.”
