The 8-1 chance, a first Cheltenham Festival success for Co Kildarebased Martin Brassil, overcame scrimmaging after the third-last flight to beat 9-2 shot Champ by two lengths.
“This is the Olympics of National Hunt racing,” said Brassil, who saddled Numbersixvalverde to National glory in 2006.
