DEFI DU SEUIL

-

Odds correct at time of printing FIVE facts about the Grade 1 Ryanair Chase

1

Ruby Walsh has a better record in the race than any other jockey, having registered four victories

2

Albertas Run was successful in 2010 and 2011, and also finished runner-up in 2012

3

There were no Irish winners in the first 11 runnings, but the past three have all been won by Irish raiders

4

Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary has owned the runner-up (four times), been third (twice) and the winner once

5

The first three runnings of the race were staged at Grade 1 level before an upgrade in 2008 THIS year’s renewal of the JLT is being talked about as a match between Lostintranslation and DEFI DU SEUIL, which is a little bit disrespectful to the other horses in the race who aren’t as good as the top two in the market.

The score is one victory apiece.

Colin Tizzard’s Lostintranslation fought back gamely to beat Defi Du Seuil in the Dipper Novices’ Chase over course and distance.

But Phillip Hobbs’ Defi Du Seuil gained revenge in the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase at Sandown despite some erratic jumping.

I’ve watched replays of both races a dozen times and I’ve fully convinced myself Defi Du Seuil definitely wins. He has by far the quicker turn of foot and better cruising speed.

Expect Barry Geraghty to stalk Lost In Translation all the way and pounce late and decisively.
