Baby ‘web snaps’ rock the cradle

- Edited by FIONA PARKER

■ IT’S very selfish of Meghan and Harry not to show their new baby to the public in the traditional way (Mirror, Apr 12) –especially considering that the public purse financed the security costs for their wedding and the refurbishment of the cottage they’re about to move into.

People usually assemble outside the hospital for hours to get a glimpse of a new royal baby.

Surely, during this time of austerity and all the uncertainty about Brexit, it would be great to give the public something to look forward to?

People are saying Harry has changed since he married Meghan – and it’s not a change most are happy about. He used to be a favourite with the people as he was so down to earth, but that’s no longer the case.

■ Harry and Meghan shunning royal protocol and deciding they won’t be coming down those famous Lindo Wing steps at St Mary’s Hospital isn’t surprising. From the start Meghan has never been the type to conform and is very clear about what she wants. They are a thoroughly modern royal couple.

We all thought William and Kate were modern, but Harry and Meghan have stepped it up a few notches.

This is the Royals today, so let’s enjoy. A new royal arrival is still going to be exciting – just a change from the norm. I shall look forward to the Instagram photos.

I wholeheartedly agree with your Royal Editor Russell Myers about Harry and Meghan breaking with royal protocol. They have to remember they are members of the Royal Family and are financially supported by the public.

For instance, the £3million refit for Frogmore Cottage was paid for by taxpayers’ hard-earned cash.

I’m sorry but Harry and Meghan can’t have it all ways and need to remember their duty to the public. Sandra Lewis, Swindon, Wilts

■ While I would have loved to see Harry and Meghan emerge from hospital with their new baby, I understand the Royal couple wanting to keep the moment for themselves. I have to say I like Megan’s style – the couple’s own Instagram page allowing them to take control of reporting what’s happening in their lives is a very good move.

And I’m sure when they release a new family photo with their new child it will be absolutely beautiful. Diane Silva, Bournemouth, Dorset

■ I don’t blame Harry and Meghan for wanting to keep news of their baby private until they are ready to tell the world. Meghan has had a difficult time over the past year with the very public battles with her father and half-siblings. She and Harry deserve to enjoy this special family time.

■ Once again a Royal editor is telling us to rejoice at another drain on the public purse. Harry and Meghan’s child will have little chance of being on the throne. The untold millions it will cost could be better spent.

■ I think Meghan should please herself when to show her baby. It’s different for Kate, our future Queen. Harry is a minor prince and Meghan a commoner, but Kate owes it to us to share her children.
