BOBBY ROBSON hit back at Newcastle fans who called for him to be sacked after a poor season.

‘If they don’t want me here, what is the point of staying?” said the Toon manager.

He said the fans knifing him in the back did not understand the struggles at the club.

Fans claimed Robson and several star players were ‘dead wood’ and needed to go.

“Some people don’t have any idea what we have to do to keep the ship solvent,” he said.
