Farage is no ally of you and me

-

■ At the forthcoming EU elections people need to remember that Nigel Farage wants to scrap the NHS, make it easier for people to buy and sell guns, and remove the rights of working people. He wants to bring back fox hunting and remove the minimum wage.

He supposedly hates Europe, but has earned £88,000 a year as an MEP for doing very little.

And yet there are still gullible working people who think he’s on their side. When will British voters see through this?

■ I’ve just received my postal vote documents for the upcoming Euro elections and can’t believe the hypocrisy of Farage’s Brexit Party.

This lot want us out of Europe but are fielding seven candidates. I suppose this tells you everything about them – Farage has been taking thousands of pounds out of the EU for basically doing nothing.

I suggest anyone thinking of voting for them has a good think before doing so.

John Hardy, Hull

■ Nigel Farage is leading people a merry dance when he says the aim of his Brexit Party is to move the UK further away from the rest of the EU. The other 27 members are our closest political allies and biggest trading partners.

With the Tories unable to decide how to leave the EU and Labour’s one foot in, one foot out deliberation, Remainers should vote either Green or Liberal Democrat at the upcoming Euro elections to counter Farage and his ilk. Martin Jackson Macclesfield, Cheshire

■ On Sunday’s Andrew Marr Show Nigel Farage failed to answer a single question put to him about issues he has supported in the past, such as privatisation of the NHS. Instead he lost his rag.

Why does Farage get so much time on our screens, but more importantly, why is a guy who has such little substance so popular? I sincerely hope the electorate prove the pollsters wrong in the EU elections.

Mick Waites, Portsmouth

■ Nigel Farage is attacked for his lack of policies aside from leaving the EU, but what people forget is the Brexit Party was formed due to the lack of progress being made by the big political parties.

Its aims are clear and understood by the electorate, ie to leave the

EU in accordance with the wishes of the people as expressed in the referendum – a clean break. These are, after all, European elections, not a general election.

Ian Bentley, Pudsey, West Yorks

■ As much as most people are fed up with our politicians and want change, the Brexit Party is not the answer. If Farage and his cronies do well, let’s hope it’s just a protest vote.

■ It’s clear Theresa May has to go as things have been badly handled from day one. But who can bring this to an end? One conclusion I’ve made is it’s not worth voting as MPs have treated the will of the people with contempt.
