Knifed friend left behind in Bridge terror

- BY JOHN TWOMEY

A MAN escaping the London Bridge terror attack was forced to leave a dying friend who begged for help, a court has heard.

Robin Colleau was fleeing when he saw French waiter Alexandre Pigeard whose throat had been cut.

Mr Colleau said: “He said, ‘Robin, please help me. My neck is open’...

“It was covered in blood. I said, ‘I’m sorry, I’ve got to run... Someone [is] stabbing people behind us.”

Mr Pigeard, 26, and another of Mr Colleau’s friends – chef Sebastien Belanger, 36 – were among the eight people murdered in the attack in June 2017.

The inquest at the Old Bailey continues.

The killers Khuram Butt, 27, Rachid Redouane, 30, and Youssef Zaghba, 22, were shot dead by police.
