WOMEN have toilets that are four times cleaner than their kitchen chopping boards, a study suggests.

Swabs from female-only homes found 102.5 germs per cubic centimetre on chopping boards, but just 24 on the loos.

In men-only homes the loos had 250.4 germs per cubic centimetre and 40.4 on the chopping boards.

Women’s fridges had 2.9 germs per cubic centimetre, compared to 102.5 in the men-only homes.

E.coli and salmonella were among the bacteria found in the study by Space Station.

Vlatka Lake, of Space Station, said: “The bacteria found in food preparation areas was shocking.” Philip with the signed artwork A WHEELER-dealer picked up what could be a £750,000 Picasso for a few hundred pounds at a car boot sale.

Philip Stapleton at first regretted paying £230 for the painting entitled Seated Bather.

He assumed it was a fake and left it on his desk for six months.

But when the 52-year-old took it to an auction house, experts said they believed it was a genuine work by the Spanish artist who died in 1973...and was worth a six-figure fortune.

He said: “I still can’t really believe what has happened.

“I’m like a rabbit caught in the headlights. It’s a very strange feeling. I feel kind of numb.

“I saw it lying on the floor and was more attracted to the art deco frame. I thought the picture was a good fake and liked it.”

Philip, of Crawley, West Sussex, was intrigued by the inscription “Picasso Collection” and decided to investigate.

Rosie May, of Brighton and Hove Auctions, was initially sceptical. She said: “We dismissed it as a framed copy.

“The signature did not sit well. The Seated Bather is 1930s and this was an early signature. “But on the back, in very faint writing, it said ‘Roland Penrose Estate.’

“He lived near here was a good friend of Picasso.

“The artist spent time at his house and Penrose organised exhibitions of his work. We think it’s a study for Seated Bather which explains the earlier signature.”

The painting, found at a West Sussex boot sale, will be auctioned on June 7. PHILIP STAPLETON ON FINDING ‘MASTERPEICE’ A SET of surreal Christmas card designs by Salvador Dali could be sold for £850,000.

The 15 artworks offer the Spanish painter’s own surreal take on festive themes such as angels, trees and the Three Wise Men.

He was commissioned to produce them between 1959 and 1976 by a drugs company.

They are expected to fetch £20,000 to £100,000 each at a Paris auction on June 4. Dali
