Canine lives brought to heel
Reuben with owners Hannah and Jack
Being a puppy parent is hard work, with canine problems like constant barking, broken sleep and lack of toilet training. Fortunately, some owners have been invited to the stunning Chatsworth House in Derbyshire to meet three of the UK’s leading dog experts.
Trainer to pups of the stars, Oli Juste, dog behavioural expert, Hannah Molloy, and top trainer, Katie Patmore, are on hand at this academy that is basically like Supernanny for our four-legged friends.
Each episode sees a new class of puppy parents enrol because they are desperate for some lessons.
“An untrained puppy can turn your life into a real nightmare,” says Oli. While Hannah reassures the nervous owners: “There are no bad dogs and there are no bad owners.”
In this first episode, we meet Hannah and Jack, who have just moved in together and have the new addition of bouncy labrador Reuben as their “practice baby”. But with differing parenting styles, the Middlesbrough couple are finding Reuben a bit of a handful.
Meanwhile, Laura from Cornwall has a giant Newfoundland puppy that was supposed to help with a fresh start after her divorce – but the colossal canine is now dominating her life.
And Sheffield couple Deepti and Dave have a feisty dachshund puppy they agreed to take on during Deepti’s cancer treatment.
Can their furry friends learn to follow commands before the bad habits are ingrained forever?
