Princess Di sweatshirt raises £42k

WORKOUT Diana in the top THE sweatshirt worn by Princess Diana three times a week to fitness classes has sold for £42,660.

The dark blue Virgin Atlantic jumper, adorned with the airline’s Varga Girl logo, fetched more than 10 times its reserve amid a frenzy of bids at auction.

It was purchased by a mystery buyer at Bostonbased RR Auction house.

Diana’s personal trainer, Jenni Rivett, who was given the item by Diana and placed it for sale, said: “She always wore the sweatshirt when we met to work out.”

Rivett says the proceeds will help a Malawian girl go to school.

Rivett added: “The princess would approve if she were still alive.”

Diana died in car crash in Paris in August 1997.
