WONDER Diver with Freckle A GIANT manta ray “begged” snorkellers to help save her life.

The 9ft-wide gentle giant, named Freckles by local divers, approached them then flipped over in the water, remaining still to show hooks embedded under her right eye.

Photographer Jake Wilton, diving on Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia, said: “I’m often guiding snorkellers and it’s as if she recognised me and trusted me to help her.”

Jake made repeated dives and got the hooks out with a pair of pliers.

British TV broadcaster Monty Halls, who was with Jake at the time, said: “That manta understood what was going on.

“Jake went down again and again and she just remained still for him.” Robinson’s supporters battle with police outside the court Protest in Westminster involved attack on BBC news crew Smoke bomb is set off outside court

At least two men were arrested as police formed a barrier between protesters and the offices.

Earlier, Robinson, 36, of Luton, Beds, arrived at the Old Bailey with right-wing Twitter ranter Katie Hopkins at 9.40am.

After struggling to get through the crowd, he was 10 minutes late and his barrister had to apologise to the court. Dame Victoria Sharp said: “Well, it’s not a very good start, is it?”

Robinson had been convicted of contempt of court last Friday and was at the Old Bailey for sentencing.

He was told the time he had previously spent in jail for the offence cut his term to 19 weeks and he would serve half.

Dame Victoria and Mr Justice Warby had found Robinson was in contempt when he filmed men accused of the sexual exploitation of young girls. He live-streamed the footage, taken outside Leeds crown court in May, 2018, on Facebook, in breach of a reporting ban.

Dame Victoria said Robinson had encouraged “vigilante action” as he was “aggressively confronting and filming” some of the defendants.

Robinson had broadcast the footage while the jury in the second of a series of linked grooming trials was considering its verdict. A reporting restriction was in place to halt publication of details of the case until after the trials of all 29 people.

Robinson was jailed for 13 months and served 10 weeks before being freed by the Court of Appeal in August, 2018.

The Attorney General announced in March that it was in the public interest to bring fresh proceedings against him.

Police said two women, aged 28 and 61, and two men, aged 60 and 50, were arrested outside the court and in Westminster yesterday on suspicion of offences committed last Friday.
