Mum’s not always the word

-

HALF of Britons admit they play favourites when it comes to loving their parents.

Researchers found four in 10 adults get on better with their mum, while one in seven prefer dad’s company.

Children are initially closest to their mothers but 35% swap allegiance to fathers during their teens.

“It’s often assumed that children are always closest to their mum, but this simply isn’t the case,” said parenting expert Siobhan Freegard.

Almost one in five said they were jealous of one of their siblings and the relationship they have with their parents.

Major life events like having a baby can turn more to their mums for support, while learning a skill like driving will put dads back in the frame, the survey of 2,000 adults for ChannelMum.com found.
