Forced to quit by Trump’s puppet

-

■ IT’S disgraceful the British ambassador to the USA has been forced to resign, not least thanks to a lack of backing by Boris Johnson.

It shows what will happen if this wretched man becomes our unelected Prime Minister which seems highly likely.

Johnson is President Trump’s puppet – both men want to tear us away from Europe so we can become a vassal state of America.

With Johnson and Trump in control be prepared to wave goodbye to our precious NHS, workers’ rights and environmental protection.

These two individuals care nothing for their countries – only their own egos.

John Bainbridge, Penrith, Cumbria

■ Now one of our most senior diplomats has been thrown under the Johnson bus, but then it’s only to be expected as he has previous form with buses.

How can any of our diplomats now feel safe in their positions? Whatever you do, don’t tell the truth or you’re likely to get it in the neck. The question I would ask Boris is, will he be a full-time Prime Minister or will he continue to write his own headlines and keep his other jobs? We don’t need a part-timer running the country.

James Rooney Elgin, Moray

■ It’s ridiculous a top diplomat has had to resign because the likely future PM wouldn’t give him his backing. Boris Johnson’s performance in the TV debate was a disgrace with his blustering and interruptions. It seems Tory Party members have conveniently forgotten his record.

The only thing that concerns Boris is Boris – he’ll be well matched with the other buffoon across the Atlantic. Keith Bowman, Chesterfield, Derbys

■ It’s all right for our US ambassador to give informative and civil facts about the Trump administration, but Sir Kim Darroch did it in an insulting manner. President Trump took umbrage and retaliated.

Sir Kim made his position untenable and was right to resign. Now Boris Johnson is said to be

■ It looks like the inmates have taken over the asylum. We have Boris Johnson threatening to suspend Parliament and cause a constitutional crisis if he, God forbid, becomes Prime Minister and doesn’t get his way – like a big child throwing his toys out of the pram.

We also know whose side he’s on when he refused to back Sir Kim Darroch prompting the ambassador’s resignation. Johnson will be a stooge for his master, Trump.

Tony Howard, Salford

■ It’s a shame Sir Kim Darroch felt he had to no option but to resign. At the end of the day he was just doing his job. The person responsible for leaking the memos should resign. Karen Dow, Worthing West Sussex

■ How many suspicious leaks have happened under our Government? Everything in our country has gone to hell in a handcart, while this crowd only worry about feathering their own nests. Ken Leary, Liverpool
