We did like to be beside the seaside
I really enjoyed Paul Routledge’s memories of the seaside in the 1940s (Mirror, July 9). I still have fond recollections of making our own flags for sandcastles, ice creams and donkey rides. This was just after the Second World War when going to the seaside was such a treat. It just shows our generation didn’t need lots of money to enjoy ourselves.
