Muir (left) races the 800 metres in Monaco as a sharpener ahead of her headline appearance in the 1500m at next week’s London Anniversary Games.
Her week-long mid-season detour to Japan shows just how focused she is on the championships looming ahead and how genuine a contender she considers herself.
Muir lines up in Monaco with the world’s third-fastest 1500m of 2019 and on the back of an impressive training block, which has convinced her coach the best is still to come this year.
The match-up of the night pits Noah Lyles against world champion Justin Gatlin in the men’s 100m.
