professionally, Solskjaer should surely be able to see this. Pogba, as the world knows, is no stranger to social media.

He could have taken to whatever platform he preferred and distanced himself from – or even dismissed – Raiola’s claims that they are actively engineering a way out of Old Trafford. But he has not.

Yet still Solskjaer lauds him. Yes, it is typical of a manager to protect his players.

But, as Solskjaer never tires of telling the world, this is Manchester United.

Rather than banging on about agendas, Solskjaer should be telling Pogba to pipe his agent down.

And the club should be telling Pogba that he either goes only if the price is right or knuckles down under his current contract.

After all, this is Manchester United.

ANDER HERRERA said he left Manchester United because ‘there were differences regarding the project and my importance within it’. Yep, compared to his new Paris SaintGermain project, the difference was about two hundred grand a week. MARIO BALOTELLI was questioned by Italian police after, allegedly, paying a man to strip down to his underpants and drive a moped into the sea.

Of course he was. Never change Mario. IT seems so many footballers do not care about the esteem in which they are held by supporters. There were probably few Arsenal fans with anything other than a good word to say about Laurent Koscielny – a Gunner of nine years standing – until yesterday.

Then, it emerged he had refused to go on the pre-season tour of the US as he agitates for a move to France. This is the club captain we are talking about. He is under contract, one that pays him up to £120,000 a week.

Playing in any game for Arsenal should be a privilege and it is no hardship to jet first-class to Los Angeles, Charlotte and Washington.

Arsenal now need to get rid of Koscielny, but why he should be happy to go from a favourite to a pariah is just plain odd.
