Brits warned over holiday phone snaps
ROAMING Beach in Turkey FAMILIES on sunshine breaks in non-EU countries are being warned they could face sky-high smartphone roaming charges.
According to a study by consumer watchdog Which? a Virgin Mobile customer taking a snap in Dubai that is uploaded to the cloud faces a £52.70 charge – the provider’s monthly data cap.
In Turkey, Thailand, Mexico, Australia and the US those on Plusnet uploading a 5MB photo face a £40 charge, while BT Mobile customers pay £35.
Which? said: “Tourists face being hit by unexpected roaming charges this summer – with even a simple photo having the potential to knock a carefully planned holiday budget off course.”
