Felicity’s secret to The Good Life

Felicity Kendal has come up with a great answer when asked in an interview about whether she’d had affairs. “I didn’t ever have affairs. I just went from one person to another, maybe overlapping a little bit,” she said.

Which is the third best answer from an actress to a journalist fending off an inquiry about her love life.

The second best came when I was in a group interview with Greta Scacchi in Cannes and a journalist asked her, in a manner too camp for her liking: “Are you still looking for Mr Right?” To which she replied “are you?”

But the best came when I once asked the wonderful Kathy Burke if there was a special person in her life. She tilted her head, put on an exaggerated posh actor’s accent, and said: “Actually, darling, I’m just resting between jobs at the moment.” QUIP Actor Felicity Kendal
