- BY LUCY THORNTON and BARNABY KELLAWAY

RIDE New mum Dana A WOMAN who started giving birth during a taxi ride to hospital said she was fined £50 for making a “mess” in the backseat.

Dana Harrison, 23, said she “had the baby’s head in her hands” when they arrived after a 3.5-mile trip.

But she claims the driver demanded to know if she was “going to clean the car”. Dana said she offered to pay him £30 on top of the £6 fare.

Seconds later, helped by a midwife, she gave birth to baby boy Blake, who weighed 7lb 7oz, in front of St James’s Hospital in Leeds, West Yorks.

Dana said: “I got put into a wheelchair and gave birth there and then. He was still shouting at me.”

The taxi firm has been approached for comment.
