Family pay tribute as teen who died in farm crash is laid to rest
Iris, 15, died in crash THE family of a teenager killed in an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle have made a touching beach tribute in her memory.
They released a photo of the teenager’s name written in the sand as the inquest into her death opened yesterday.
Iris, 15, daughter of millionaire financier Ben Goldsmith, died on July 8 when her vehicle overturned on the family’s farm near the village of
North Brewham, Somerset.
She was described as an “angel” by her relatives as they released images and details of her funeral service which had taken place at St Mary’s Church in Barnes, South West London, on Wednesday.
In her eulogy, mum Kate Rothschild said: “I can’t possibly begin to explain the ocean of grief we find ourselves in or the feeling of being shattered into a thousand unfindable pieces.
“And even harder than that would be to explain her, to really do her justice.
“She was simply spectacular, her light was brighter than any I’ve ever known. She was just magical, but there aren’t enough words.
“Or I don’t know how to find them at least.
“Iris was life-giving and free and fun and wild, but she also worked harder than any girl I’ve ever Iris was laid to rest on Wednesday known. And she cared, she cared so much about living her best life.
“She had so many plans and dreams and ambitions and she was willing to put everything she had into reaching them.
“Goodbye, my angel, you were always on a whole other level to the rest of us, now you are truly untouchable.
“I am so proud of you and I always will be, we will miss you.”
Mr Goldsmith is the younger brother Teen with dad Ben Goldsmith of Conservative MP Zac Goldsmith and journalist Jemima Goldsmith. After his eldest child’s death Ben wrote on Twitter: “Dear God, please can I have my beautiful, brilliant, kind little girl back.”
Avon and Somerset Police are not treating her death as suspicious.
An inquest into the tragedy was opened yesterday with a short hearing in Taunton. Senior coroner, Tony Williams, said: “I understand she was the driver of a left-hand drive all terrain-type vehicle when it turned over for reasons that are yet to be established.
“As a result it is believed she suffered fatal injures.”
