JAMES Corden may have delighted fans by announcing Gavin & Stacey will be back on our screens but it seems not everyone is happy.

Residents in the quiet street where the comedy is filmed have complained about crowds, bright lights keeping them up until 3am and rubbish thrown in their gardens.

One, Laura Davies, told how fans are swarming to the street in Barry, South Wales, to see the show’s stars, including Corden and Ruth Jones.

The 40-year-old said: “They are filming all through the night, using spotlights that keep me up. I took a picture at 3am and you can see the crew and Ruth Jones milling about.

“Fans lounge on neighbours’ cars and our walls. We’ve also had people throwing rubbish into our gardens. Every person in this street is unhappy.” Neighbour Neil Evans added: “It’s mad. People are still outside at 3am.” Resident Lynnmarie Mayberry said: “They should have measures in place to stop fans using our walls as stepping stones to try to view the action.” Corden, who plays Smithy, and Jones (Nessa), are among the familiar faces from the cast in the street. Filming for the hit BBC comedy Christmas special, which also stars Mathew Horne and Joanna Page as Gavin and Stacey, and Rob Brydon as Bryn, started on July 12.

A BBC spokesman said: “The team have worked hard to make sure any disruption is kept to a minimum and will follow up on any concerns. We thank everybody in Barry for their support.”
