Hottest day of year as African weather front heads for Britain

STAR Lisa spoke to Hello! EASTENDERS actress Lisa Faulkner has revealed “she lost sight of everything” after discoverin­g that she was unlikely to have children.

The star, who got engaged to MasterChef judge John Torode, 53, on Christmas Day last year, suffered an ectopic pregnancy more than a decade ago.

The 47-year-old went through three rounds of IVF treatment before adopting her daughter with her first husband, actor Chris Coghill, in 2008.

She said: “Everyone around me seemed to be pregnant, and that made me feel such a failure. I lost sight of everything – my marriage, my friends and my family.”

A weather plume, pushing north from Africa, will hit Britain with a heatwave that sends temperatur­es soaring to 29C today and 33C tomorrow.

The spike – triggered by a 700-mile wide Moroccan “heat flare” – will arrive on Wednesday.

Thermomete­rs could then reach 35C (95F) as the band of humidity arrives from the continent.

This will surpass this year’s hottest day so far on June 29 when London basked in 34C.

We could also see a 2019 high for the night temperatur­e, currently 23.9C.

The Met Office’s Sophie Yeomans said: “By Tuesday night, there could be thundersto­rms, which break down the heat and make it feel fresher as showers come in.”

Public Health England cautions about a risk to health and issued a level-2 “alert and readiness” warning.

comes as mainland Europe is braced for potentiall­y killer temperatur­es, with Paris expecting 41C in midweek. London and parts of Kent and Sussex will get the best of the sunshine today but temperatur­es are expected to hit 26C as far north as Nottingham.
