GREG: MURRAY’S IN NO HURRY

US OPEN

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

ANDY MURRAY’S latest singles defeat proves he was right to skip the US Open, says Greg Rusedski.

And the former New York finalist believes the Scot’s comeback should not be judged until after the Australian Open next year.

Murray (right) is still without a singles win since his hip op after losing 7-6 7-5 to Tennys Sandgren at the Winston-Salem Open. He may now play a second-tier Challenger event in Majorca next week.

The final Grand Slam of the season starts at Flushing Meadows on Monday, but Rusedski said: “He is not ready for a Major where you play best-of-five sets.

“Andy will aim for the Australian Open, which may answer questions of how far he can get back.”
