RODRI’S ON LEARNING CURVE

-

CHELSEA manager Frank Lampard has been handed a major boost with two key players close to injury comebacks.

Winger Callum Hudson-Odoi (above), who has been out since April after rupturing an Achilles tendon, returned to training with the first team yesterday.

And Antonio Rudiger, also out since April after knee surgery, could be in line to return at Norwich on Saturday. The defender came through Chelsea’s Under-23 3-0 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Monday night unscathed.

Right-back Davide Zappacosta will join Roma on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent transfer. MANCHESTER CITY’S record £62.8million signing Rodri claims he still has much to learn – despite a bright start to his Blues career.

Rodri (right), 23, has begun City’s first three games, following his summer switch from Atletico Madrid, and the Spain midfielder has been praised for his performances.

He is pleased by Pep Guardiola’s vote of confidence and wants to contribute more.

“I feel better every day,” said Rodri. “It’s good for me to play minutes. It’s not easy to get into a team with the dynamic City have overwhelming, always wanting to attack.

“I’m happy because Pep’s showing me a lot of confidence, but I still have a lot to learn.”
