Love story for Blades

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

CHRIS WILDER says players and fans of Sheffield United hated each other when he took over at Bramall Lane.

The Blades boss (below) has transformed the club in three years, leading them from mid-table in League One to eighth in the Premier League.

Wilder says relations between the supporters and players were at rock bottom when he succeeded Nigel Adkins in May 2016.

He said: “There wasn’t a connection. Every part of the club hated each other.

“That was the biggest thing, to re-connect every part of the club and the biggest part of that was to re-connect players with the fans. This is a powerful club when we’re together.”
