Worrying that PM dodges scrutiny

-

■ Incompetent, inept, selfish, arrogant and cowardly are just some of the kinder words I have for Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

To leave Luxembourg’s PM Xavier Bettel to answer questions from the press alone showed the highest level of contempt and was unacceptable for a Prime Minister.

I agree with everything Mr Bettel said – he summed Johnson up.

I believe Johnson has no intention of getting a deal as he is intent on avoiding scrutiny and criticism.

Sending a white feather to him is the only gesture he’d understand.

Most right-thinking people in this country have no confidence in him and he should go immediately – for all our sakes.

■ What an embarrassment Boris Johnson is on the international stage. It makes me cringe to think of him and his cohorts representing our country in talks with the EU. The truth is Boris couldn’t negotiate his way out of a paper bag. He is less like the Incredible Hulk and more like the Incredible Sulk because he would rather run and hide than face his critics. With any luck, this hapless PM will bring down this appalling right-wing government and the Tory Party with him.

■ Boris Johnson was right not to take part in the press conference as he said his answers would be drowned out by the angry mob outside. What was the point of trying to make himself heard above that din? I say well done to Boris for standing up to the EU bullies who want everything their own way.

If MPs had more faith in this country of ours, we wouldn’t be in a stalemate – we’d be out already.

■ Nigel Farage accuses the Luxembourg Prime Minister of humiliating Boris Johnson. If Farage weren’t so obsessed with destroying the UK with Brexit on his terms, he would see that every time that blustering Boris opens his mouth, he humiliates himself and his country.

At the moment, we are the laughing stock of the world over the disaster that is Brexit.

R J Tandy, Liverpool

■ Boris Johnson’s recent no-show in Luxembourg proved that he has no idea how to get a deal with the EU, no matter how much the Government tries to spin it. Judging by the loud protests marking his visit, it also showed how unpopular he is.

Simon Elgie, Skipton, North Yorks

■ The Incredible Hulk chickened out of his own press conference amid noisy protests, leaving an empty podium next to Luxembourg’s PM Xavier Bettel. What an embarrassment he is.

K R Moreton, Draycott

■ Buffoon Boris thinks that by acting like the Hulk he will get the better of Jean-Claude Juncker. But Juncker is likely to outsmart him the same way he did Theresa May. Boris may well go to the EU as the Hulk, but he’ll come back as Bambi! Paul Gladman, Aldershot, Hants
