We’re still SMILING!

Grayson has no time for the moaners

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

BLACKPOOL boss Simon Grayson claims he is ignoring the critics who are not happy, despite his side’s fine start.

The Seasiders sit fourth in League One, yet some fans moaned about the lack of entertainment in Monday’s goalless draw with Bolton.

Grayson, who led the club to the Championship in 2007 during his first stint in charge at Bloomfield Road, claims he has no time for their carping. “I’m too old and long in the tooth to be worried about what people are saying about my team or this, that or the other,” he said. “Social media? I don’t bother with it.

“I look at the true facts, which show we are fourth in the division and we’ve only lost two games all season.

“I do think we’re going to get better, but if we had been offered this position at the start of the season I’m sure 99.9 per cent of people would have taken it.

“You will always have a minority who think they can do a better job than those players playing the game, or manage better than managers and run the club better than the owners. It is just part and parcel of football. You just get on with it. People are entitled to their opinion, but whether I take any notice of them is another thing.”

The Tangerines can strengthen their automatic promotion bid if they can beat Rotherham at home this afternoon, and Grayson says most of their rivals would love to be in their position.

“Everybody wants to be top of the division,” he added.

“But we are in a strong position and have given ourselves a platform.

“There are a lot of football clubs in this division who would like to be where we are. That is all I will say.”
