ECONOMICAL The Sandero BUDGET motor brand Dacia has been named the cheapest car in Britain with its Sandero model costing just 30p per mile to buy and run from new.

Three of the Romanian firm’s cars made the top 10 in an Auto Express poll, based on three years and 30,000 miles of ownership.

It reported: “It’s one of the most basic cars for sale in the UK but you can drive a Sandero for a week and it’ll cost the same as two loaves of bread.” A MUM forced to give up her baby 69 years ago has been granted her lifelong wish for a reunion – after her daughter traced her through a DNA match online.

Margaret Preston, 88, never gave up hope of seeing her girl again after having to let her be adopted as an unmarried mum in 1950.

Her dream finally came true as Christine Savage traced her in a seven-year quest spanning the world. Christine set out to find her after retiring.

A search of electoral rolls led nowhere, and she hired a researcher to no avail. Finally she uploaded her

DNA to ancestry. co.uk and was alerted to a close match in Australia. It was Margaret’s younger daughter Rosalind, 61.

Christine, from Portsmouth, said: “I said I’m her half-sister. That came as a huge shock.” She then got a message from 58-year-old Geoff Preston in Florida, saying: “I hear I’m your little brother.”

He gave her their mum’s phone number and Christine visited her in St Anne’s-onSea, Lancs. Christine said: “She had been hoping for years that I would contact her. We’ve got so much catching up to do.”
