ELEVEN women and children were subjected to “shocking depravity and violence” by a suspected serial rapist, a court heard.

Joseph McCann, 34, is accused of targeting victims aged 11 to 71 and abducting them or attacking them in their homes in London, Watford and Greater Manchester.

One suffered a 14-hour ordeal and a mother was held captive while he attacked her children, the court heard.

McCann is charged with 37 offences, including rape, kidnap and false imprisonment, allegedly during a cocaine and vodka-fuelled rampage between April 20 and May 5 this year. The 71-year-old victim was abducted in a supermarket car park, while others were snatched from suburban streets, the court heard.

Opening the Old Bailey trial, John Price QC said one woman was raped so many times she lost count while being subjected to acts of “shocking depravity and violence”.

The first victim, a 21-year-old woman, was grabbed from the street at knifepoint by McCann as she walked home from the Pryzm nightclub in Watford, Herts, in the early hours of Sunday April 21, the court heard.

Mr Price said McCann bundled her into a Ford Mondeo before taking her home and raping her in her own bed.

The following Wednesday, McCann allegedly struck again, this time in Walthamstow, East London, when he allegedly kidnapped a 25-year-old woman as she walked home from work.

Mr Price told jurors: “He hit her and threatened to smash a vodka bottle in her face.”

Just after midday on the same day, he is said to have abducted a 21-yearold woman in Edgware, North London, allegedly while still holding the 25-year-old prisoner in his vehicle. Jurors were shown CCTV footage of the woman being bundled into a silver Ford

ITV bosses have confirmed there will be no direct replacement for The Jeremy Kyle Show, as revealed by the Mirror.

Instead Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women will be shifted or extended.

From January, GMB will be from

MANHUNT Police cordon in Watford, and McCann on CCTV at nearby hotel 6am-9am, Lorraine will then run for an hour and This Morning will be extended by 30 minutes, starting half an hour earlier at 10am.

Last month we revealed the changes would net This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby pay rises of £150,000 each. Kevin Lygo, ITV Director of Television, said: “Live TV is at the core of what ITV does.

“Our new schedule presents the opportunity to engage with our audience in a way that no other channel does.”

ITV daytime boss Emma Gormley added: “We can’t wait to bring our audiences an even greater abundance of personalities, surprises, warmth and humour.”

The Kyle show, which ran from 2005, was axed after guest Steve Dymond took his own life after failing a lie detector test in May.
