Tests for 19hr flights to Oz

QANTAS will test a nonstop flight from London to Sydney today, as part of trials for a potential commercial route.

A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with 40 people – plus crew – will make the 19 hour journey as part of the airline’s Project Sunrise.

Medical experts will monitor the fliers to assess their rest and dietary habits, health and wellbeing during the flight.

The airline also said all carbon emissions from the flight will be fully offset.
