WALLY DOWNES says he is devastated at the way his reign at his beloved AFC Wimbledon ended.

Downes (right) has just finished a 28-day suspension for breaching betting rules. He was also fined £3,000 for placing eight bets – one of which was for just £1.11 on women’s football. The 58-year-old, who left the club last month, said: “I am devastated it has ended this way. I don’t want my legacy to be one stupid mistake. It has been one of the blackest periods of my life. I thought I would see out my career at Wimbledon.”
