COWLEY: KAR WILL NOT BE DRIVEN OFF

- BY NEIL GOULDING

HUDDERSFIELD boss Danny Cowley has revealed he is desperate to keep hold of top-scorer Karlan Grant.

Wanted hitman Grant (above) has bagged an impressive 12 goals in 22 league matches so far this season.

And it’s understandable Cowley wants to stop his star striker leaving in the transfer window.

“Christmas is about giving but it’s also about getting presents. Karlan is one of my favourite toys and I don’t like giving away my favourite toys,” said Cowle (below).

“It would take a monumental sum of money for us to even consider losing him at this stage.

“He is a key player for us. He’s scored a high quantity and quality of goals. He’s valued very, very highly by us. We’re absolutely confident that, come February 1st, Karlan will still be here.

“But, if he isn’t, it means we have had an offer that can take this club forward. You never know what’s going to happen in football.”

Cowley (right) could be boosted by the welcome return of a string of key players back from injury against Nottingham Forest.

Midfielders Lewis O’Brien (calf) and Alex Pritchard (knee), left-back Jaden Brown (ankle) and striker Fraizer Campbell (hip), all face late fitness tests.

“We’re confident we can get one or two back,” said Cowley, whose side have won just one of their last seven games.

“Forest have had a good start to the season, so we know they will be a really tough proposition. Our challenge is to find some weaknesses in their structure, so we can hurt them.”

Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi hopes Carl Jenkinson, Samba Sow and Yohan Benalouane will be available after last week’s 4-0 thumping by Sheffield Wednesday.

Jenkinson, 27, has been out with an ankle injury since August, while midfielder Sow, 30, was sidelined by a hamstring problem in October.

Centre-half Benalouane, 32, hasn’t featured since April following a hip injury.
